Our Philosophy

We think of our readers as people with whom we have a relationship - like neighbors.  If you're going to wave at us as you drive by the (virtual) mailbox, you probably would like to know just a little bit about what we actually believe.

Passion, Information, Possibilities

Passion:  There is nothing more important than our health.  It's really that simple.  It affects us financially, our mood, and, of course our performance day to day.  A third of adult Americans are obese and our children and grandchildren are getting fatter.  It is truly a national epidemic.  And, for us, a personal one.  Our parents are afflicted with Type II Diabetes, Alzheimer's, hypertension, and obesity.  We have both been called home from deployments to the hospital, not knowing if one of them would make it through the night.

Information:  Up until 2012, we were about as conventionally minded regarding fitness, nutrition, health, and aging as anybody could be.  We had heard all the studies, reviews, mantras, and propaganda.  That it was natural to slow down and gain weight as you age, so just lower your expectations.  We believed that whole wheat was the holy grail of a healthy diet and that 3x20 minutes of cardio per week was the key to a healthy body.  Except - none of those things really seemed to be working.

We took matters into our own hands, reading and researching, and then applying what we learned.  When you challenge the conventional wisdom, the answers are out there.  And they're simple!  We want to share what we've learned with you.

Possibilities:  As 40-somethings, we still have a lot of life in front of us, and there are a lot of things we want to do.  Being healthy and strong makes those things even more of a possibility.  What's more, in pushing ourselves in our training, we have found we are capable of so much more than even we thought.  It opens a whole world of adventure.

There you have it.  Now that you know where we are coming from, you can decide for yourself when and how to apply the ideas you pick up here.  Actually, we wouldn't have it any other way.

If you would like to share your own point of view, or just comment on what you see here, feel free.  We'd love to hear from you.

Warmest Regards,

Michael & Michelle
